Patrick Tignyemb and Jackie Motshegwa eyeing Telkom Knockout glory with Bloemfontein Celtic

Posted: 2 December 2017 Time: 10:00

Patrick Tignyemb and Jackie Motshegwa will return to Durban this weekend for the Telkom Knockout final as the only survivors from the Bloemfontein Celtic squad that won this trophy five years ago.

Celtic’s last cup success was in this very same city situated on the shoulders of the Indian Ocean. And while they elbowed out Mamelodi Sundowns at Moses Mabhida Stadium in 2012 they will face Bidvest Wits further inland at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
For Tignyemb and Motshegwa they will be the two men in the colours of Siwelele who know how it feels to win a trophy for the green and white-shirted club from the Free State province.
As has been the case since his arrival at Celtic in 2008 – Tignyemb has been the man trusted with keeping goals through almost every match that the club has played.
It is no surprise that the Cameroonian was in goals for the 2012 final and is expected to guard the posts again on Saturday.
Tignyemb is into his 10th season with Celtic and now stands as the longest serving player in the current squad as he nears the club’s record for most starts.
With Motshegwa, he was brought in as a substitute back in 2012 replacing Lyle Lakay after 76 minutes.
Motshegwa was a bit-part player back then playing limited minutes.
However, with his input having now grown upon his third stint with Celtic the 28-year-old will definitely be keen to play a bigger role in the latest final.
Motshegwa has only not been involved in two games that Siwelele have played this season.

Celtic from the 2012 final:
Tignyemb – Mzava (Leonard 81st), Isaacs, Nthethe (capt), Mahoa – Mogorosi, Madubanya (Duiker 60th), Arwuah, Lakay (Motshegwa 76th) – Gamildien – Bacela
Unused substitutes: Visser, Motlhaping, Nyanda, Manzini
Coach: Larsen
