Lefa Tsutsulupa says AmaZulu striker Siyabonga Nomvethe can make a huge contribution to SA football in future

Former Moroka Swallows captain Lefa Tsutsulupa hopes Siyabonga Nomvethe will not be lost to football when he eventually decides to hang up his boots.

With so many strikers firing blanks in the PSL, Tsutsulupa believes Nomvethe can use his experience to contribute to the local game and help solve the country's problem of converting chances.

The AmaZulu veteran striker will turn 40 tomorrow and he has been an example for many players throughout his career.

"Let’s be honest, we are not getting enough goals and youngsters can learn from him. These are people that need to be protected and kept in football," Tsutsulupa tells KickOff.com.

"He can score and that is one thing lacking at the moment. We don’t have natural goalscorers like him. He does not wait for midfielders to create opportunities. He creates openings for himself and he gets goals," he adds.

Tsutsulupa says Nomvethe prefers to do his talking with his actions on and off the pitch.

"I was honoured to share a dressing room with him. When you talk about 'Bhele' you talk about a total professional. We learned a lot from him, especially because he played in Europe.

"He was not that vocal, but his actions spoke for him and I believe that’s how football should be. Everything he has done is a result of hard work. He is a family man, so I think everybody can learn from him."

Tsutsulupa was unable to say if Nomvethe is the best striker the PSL has ever had.

"Strikers differ from generation to generation. In his own right , he is the best. He has done well for himself."
