Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Daniel Mudau is not sure if there will ever be a player who breaks Siyabonga Nomvethe's scoring record in the PSL.

Nomvethe, who turns 40 tomorrow, struck goal number 120 in the PSL when he netted against Sundowns as AmaZulu beat the Tshwane giants 2-1 in the Absa Premiership in October.

With so many strikers wasting opportunities in front of goal at the moment, it's hard to see anyone surpassing 'Bhele''s tally of goals. Mudau, however, has not entirely ruled it out.

"When you look at the PSL, I had been holding the record and then Bhele came and broke it. There will be somebody who comes and scores goals in future, but I am not sure if he can pass the number set by Bhele. But I wish that someone can come and do it so that it can be history of PSL football. That’s what football is about,” said Mudau, who is one of five players to have scored over 100 goals in the PSL.

Mudau praised Nomvethe for being disciplined and committed to his career.

"I started knowing him with Sibusiso Zuma and Phumlani Mkhize at African Wanderers. But people were looking at 'Rhee' [Zuma] and Mkhize and many were not looking at Bhele. But I remember someone saying Nomvethe is going to be a dangerous. He can play with his right foot, he can play with his left. You look at his work and his discipline, his commitment and you can only be impressed. He came into football knowing that he is here to work."

Mudau believes Nomvethe is nowhere near retiring.

"I don’t think he is ready to retire. I think he can play for another three years. He is still working hard. He can take on defenders and he can score."
