Cosmos boss Jomo Sono scoffs at perfection

Posted: 28 November 2017 Time: 19:45

Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono says he will welcome any kind of win in the National First Division rather than wasting his time worrying about his team improving from their last performance.

A rampant Ezenkosi humiliated on-form Mbombela United 4-1 on the weekend to move to third in the standings after 12 matches.

Sono says his team are realistically aiming for the play-offs as he considers Highlands Park and University of Pretoria to be favourites for automatic promotion.

"I don't care what people say and I don't care about perfection," Sono tells KickOff.com.

"Perfection don't put points in your club, perfection don't get you promoted, so we don't care. We don't even listen and we take each game as it comes you know.

"To be honest Highlands and Tuks are favourites and us maybe we are fighting for play-offs. But the favourites are the two teams Tuks and Highlands Park... definitely those two will fight for the number one position and us... we want to fight for the play-offs. As long as we reach the play-offs we will be good."

Sono says there is still plenty of football to be played as he downplayed the heavy scoreline against Mbombela.

"Not really, it's still a long way to go, it's still in the morning of the season. There's still a long, long way to go. This is nothing. You know in the NFD a final only comes in the second round. That's when everybody now starts being serious cause some might be relegated.

"Some want to play for the play-offs. As for all the chances we created, they ended up being a goal, that's it and it's a good win. We took our chances. Every shot we took ended up being a goal. In some other games every shot we took didn't become a goal, but this one they were going in. What is good is that we scored them in the second half."
