Jomo Cosmos captain Linda Mntambo wary of complacency

Jomo Cosmos captain Linda Mntambo says the promotion contenders can not afford to take their foot off the pedal heading into the Christmas break.

Ezenkosi are two points behind NFD leaders Highlands Park after 12 games, having defeated fellow high-flyers Mbombela United 4-1 at home on Sunday.

Jomo Sono's charges next visit mid-table Witbank Spurs this Saturday.

“After going into the break at 0-0, we really had to dig deep to come up with a plan, and in the second half we showed true character to score goals and take all the points at stake,” Mntambo told his club's website when discussing yesterday's win.

“I think our great team spirit helped turn a hopeless situation around, and we couldn’t have asked for more.”

The midfielder, who opened the scoring against United, added: “It was a good win in everyone’s books, but there’s still a lot of work to be done.

“With all due respect we need to win again to stay in the chasing park as we intend going into the Christmas break on a high.”
