Absa Premiership match report Maritzburg United v Bidvest Wits 25 November 2017
Posted: 25 November 2017
Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits dropped points once again as they drew 0-0 with Maritzburg United.
The opening 10 minutes proved to be a cagey affair , as neither side looked like carving out clear cut chances.
The home side had to wait until the 22nd minute for their first chance with defender Bevan Fransman hitting the crossbar with a header.
It was a tightly contested affair at the Harry Gwala Stadium, with both sides giving nothing away.
However, that proved to be trend for the rest of the opening half as the sides went into the break goalless.
The second half got off to a better start and Maritzburg managed to carve out a chance as Yazid Atouba forced Darren Keet into a good save.
The woodwork came to Maritzburg's rescue in the 68th minute when Eleazar Rodgers' flick header struck the upright crossbar.
With time running out, Fadlu Davids brought on Lebohang Maboe and Mohau Mokate after 15 minutes as they pushed for a winning goal. While Gavin Hunt threw on James Keens for Rodgers.
Despite the high tempo, neither side could find the winning goal in the closing stages as they settled for a share of the spoils.
