Free State Stars striker Edward Manqele has been ruled out of Saturday's match against his former team Kaizer Chiefs with broken ribs.
Manqele sustained the injury after scoring in a 1-1 draw with Chippa United at Goble Park on Wednesday.
Stars coach Luc Eymael confirmed the 30-year-old will sit out the clash with Amakhosi at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
"Jabu, you know yesterday [Wednesday] he got a knock after he scored," Eymael told KickOff.com.
"I think two, three minutes after that he got a knock. Ja, a big knock, he was struggling to finish the game. He's got two ribs fractured.
"Today he trained a bit but I could see it was painful. So I told the physio he needs to go to the doctor. Unfortunately according to the X-ray two ribs are cracked... Ja, we cannot play him on Saturday against his former team. It's unfortunate because I wanted to spare him a bit yesterday to be sure he will play against Chiefs."
The Belgian is unsure when the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns man will be able to return.
"Two to three weeks that's what I hope. I hope it's not for six weeks, but for that I don't have exact information."
Manqele has netted three goals for Ea Lla Koto since returning to the Premiership outfit in September after being released by Chiefs in April.
