Zuma has made four substitute appearances for Chiefs since joining the Soweto giants from Bloemfontein Celtic in the off-season.

The Pietermaritzburg-born forward twice came close to scoring in a recent 1-0 loss to Bidvest Wits in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals, striking the crossbar and being foiled by Darren Keet in a one-on-one situation.

"Every time I play I have to do something different and show the coach what I got up my sleeve to help the team," says Zuma, who also featured in the goalless league draw with AmaZulu in midweek.

"It is well documented that we are not doing okay and we want him to trust us that we can do it. I also feel scoring my first goal at the club will open doors for me but so far so good... I'm happy with my performance.

"I went close against Wits and I can smell it now that the goal is coming. It is only a matter of time before the net bulges."

Zuma, who is also comfortable out wide, says he needs to show more composure when pulling the trigger to make the most of his lightning pace.

"I just need more composure in front of goals after I have done the dirty work of leaving defenders behind. I need to be composed and score goals with a proper final touch."

Amakhosi are three points behind log leaders Baroka after 11 matches, and next face Free State Stars at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (18h00).
