SuperSport United defender Siyabonga Nhlapo identifies TP Mazembe's weakness

Right-back Siyabonga Nhlapo says SuperSport United need to take advantage of TP Mazembe’s slow defence.
SuperSport have a lot of pace on the flanks, with Thuso Phala and Aubrey Modiba constantly getting forward to try whip in crosses into the box. Nhlapo is another who enjoys getting forward and his pace will no doubt cause problems for visiting Mazembe.
The sides will battle for CAF Confederation Cup honours at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night (20h15).
SuperSport, who are 2-1 behind from the first leg of the final, will meet Mazembe for the fourth time in this year’s competition, having scored three times against the defending champions.
“Their weak point is that they are slow at the back and if you press them high you can win balls. They can concede and that showed when we scored in the first leg away from home. If we start the way we started in DRC then I think we can exploit those weaknesses,” Nhlapo tells KickOff.com.
“I obviously don’t want to reveal much about our tactics, but the coach has a plan. The plan now will change slightly because we are at home, but we should go full out. Their tempo tends to drop towards the end of the game, so if we manage the game well then I think we can get the better of them.
“We need to make sure we score and stay disciplined at the back not to concede. In this tournament you cannot concede when you play at home.”
Nhlapo, however, is aware that Mazembe have attacking threats of their own and they cannot be ignored.
“Their strengths are that they have [Adama] Traore, who plays on my side but tends to drift into the middle. There’s [Rainford] Kalaba their captain. He goes into those pockets. They also have a fullback who overlaps. He wears jersey number five [Issama Mpeko].”
