SuperSport United starlet Sipho Mbule is looking forward to one day playing regularly with his close friend Teboho Mokoena in Matsatsantsa’s midfield.
The two players are seen as the future of SuperSport as they’ve both shown so much potential for club and country, at junior level.
Mbule announced himself in the big time with a cracking goal against TP Mazembe in the CAF Confederation Cup final first leg against DRC giants TP Mazembe on Sunday, while Mokoena has become a key component in the side’s midfield since Stuart Baxter gave him his debut last season.
Both players are an example of just how much talent there is in the SuperSport development side.
“I look forward to playing with him [Mokoena] because we played together at Harmony Academy and we are both from Bethlehem. I think we always do well when we are playing together. If we can play together I think we can do well for SuperSport,” Mbule tells KickOff.com.
“We don’t only understand each other on the pitch. We stay together and I am always with him, so we understand each other very well [off the pitch]. I know him more than anyone here at the team, so I think we would do well together on the pitch.”
The 19-year-old has set himself goals, including winning trophies with the senior team and going overseas. He’s already won the MTN8 title and now has the opportunity to win a continental title, something many other players can only dream of.
“I’d like to win trophies with the team and we’ll see what other things come. Playing overseas is also one of my dreams, but time will tell,” he says.
“I want to see myself playing week in and out. That would be a great feeling for me.“
Mbule could get another chance to start in midfield alongside captain Dean Furman and the returning Reneilwe Letsholonyane, who was suspended for the first leg. Coach Eric Tinkler could sacrifice Dove Wome to have all three central midfielders in his starting line-up.
