James Okwuosa cancelled out Edward Manqele's strike as Chippa United and Free State Stars drew 1-1 at Goble Park.
Samuel Julies was handed his first start for the Chilli Boys after impressing in recent matches before the international break.
Chippa enjoyed most of the possession in the opening stages of the encounter but they struggled to break down the Stars defence.
The game's first chance arrived after 38 minutes as Sinethemba Jantjie forced Daniel Akpeyi into a fine save from close range.
Teboho Moloi's charges pushed for an opening goal in the closing stages of the first half, but they were unable to carve out a chance as the score remained 0-0 at the break.
Akpeyi came to Chippa's rescue once again after the break as he did well to deny Paulus Masehe, before Badra Ali Sangare denied Paseka Mako in a one-on-one situation at the other end.
The Chilli Boys continued to push for the opening goal and they squandered a golden chance in the 64th minute when Kurt Lentjies failed to beat Sangare from close range.
The chances kept falling for the visitors as substitute Moeketsi Sekola fired just wide of the upright from the edge of the box.
With time running out in the second half, Moloi introduced Menzi Masuku for Julies in the 80th minute as Chippa pushed for a goal.
However, it was Stars who broke the deadlock on 84 minutes courtesy of a strike from Manqele, 1-0.
Two minutes later, Chippa were level as Okwuosa headed home following a corner from Masuku, 1-1.
That proved to be the final chance of the contest as the sides settled for a share of the spoils.
