Micho promoting competitions between Wayne Sandilands and Jackson Mabokgwane

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojević is promoting competition between his goalkeepers, insisting there is no space for comfort zones at Mayfair.

New Pirates gloveman Wayne Sandilands has been 'Micho' first-choice keeper this season but missed last night's draw with Golden Arrows due to an Achilles injury.

The Serbian tactician instead fielded Jackson Mabokgwane, who collected a clean sheet against Abafana Bes'thende at Orlando Stadium.

Sandilands, however, is expected back at training this week ahead of Sunday's clash with Bloemfontein Celtic at DR Molemela Stadium.

"Regarding Mabokgwane, it is something what we have been looking for now after three to four months when you now know all the players," said Micho.

"When you see some are training players and some are match players. You look at all angles, you use all possible scans: X-ray, MRI scan, all scans you are looking right and left and you think you know your players.

"Now each position we are looking to put a pecking order. Believe me a comfort zone is something that we are not allowing to start."

Sandilands sustained his knock on Bafana Bafana duty during the ill-fated World Cup qualifiers with Senegal.

"We have been working the last weeks with Jackson Mabokgwane, he has been with us, playing two friendly matches in between.

"Sandilands has been away, he didn't play, he came with a little injury, in a way we kept him out. From tomorrow [today] he is going back to fight in a pecking order; one, two, three, four regarding goalkeeping," added Sredojević, who also has Siyabonga Mpontshane and Nigerian Emmanuel Daniel as options in goal.
