Absa Premiership match report Orlando Pirates v Golden Arrows 21 November 2017

Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates played to a 0-0 draw at Orlando Stadium in a game that saw Nkosingiphile Gumede put in a superb performance.
Jackson Mabokgwane was given his chance to shine in between the sticks as he was included in the Pirates starting XI.
However, neither he nor Gumede was seriously tested until the latter diverted Thabo Matlaba’s powerful long-range strike behind for a corner in the 13th minute.
That shot appeared to inspire Arrows, who began to show more attacking intent afterwards.
Nevertheless, Gumede was called into action once again 26 minutes in by Abafana Bes'thende’s serial tormentor.
Thabo Qalinge danced through their defence to set himself up for a shot. However, the Arrows keeper rushed off his line to make an alert save, denying Qalinge a repeat of his Telkom Knockout goal against Arrows.
In the 42nd minute, Zolani Nkombelo fired a fierce long-range shot at goal, but Mabokgwane was equal to it, making the save.
The sides went into the break all square, with both sides having showed flashes of brilliance.
Arrows made the first substitution of the game at half-time, bringing Andile Fikizolo on for Nduduzo Sibiya.
The visitors started the second half brightly, with Kudakwashe Mahachi and Knox Mutizwa combining well.
The latter failed to capitalise after being fed by the former in the 54th minute. Mutizwa cut inside from the right and did well to make room for himself to shoot, but fired straight at Mabokgwane with his weaker foot.
Straight afterwards, Pirates brought Thabiso Kutumela on for Thamsanqa Gabuza. Clinton Larsen made his second change five minutes later, replacing Jabulani Shongwe with Musa Bilankulu.
The Buccaneers squandered a golden opportunity in the 63rd minute. Justice Chabalala missed the target from close range after a fine save from Gumede had denied Musa Nyatama.
Pirates then brought Amigo Memela on for Marc van Heerden six minutes afterwards. Arrows responded by bringing Lerato Lamola on for Mutizwa.
Gumede then made another fantastic save in the 73rd minute, denying Ntsikelelo Nyauza from close range.
Milutin Sredojević’s final substitution saw Bernard Morrison come on for Qalinge with just over 10 minutes remaining.
Matlaba forced another save from Gumede two minutes from the end of the 90, perhaps rushing his shot.
Although he nearly calamitously let the ball through his legs late in stoppage time, the keeper was instrumental in preserving the point for Arrows, who move to 16 points, with Pirates still one behind.
