Bidvest Wits defender Buhle Mkhwanazi says they have to forget about reaching the Telkom Knockout final as they prepare to host former African champions Mamelodi Sundowns tonight.

Wits will battle Bloemfontein Celtic for TKO honours in Durban on December 2 after beating Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in the last-four on Saturday.

However, the Students' Premiership title defence is in tatters as they currently sit in the relegation zone with eight points from nine matches - nine points adrift of of log leaders Baroka.

Mkhwanazi is aware Gavin Hunt's side have to focus on the task ahead at Bidvest Stadium (19h30 kick-off).

“We can't look at the cup now. It is over and now we going to the final. Our task now is to focus on the league and improve our position on the log,” Mkhwanazi tells

“We are playing against former African champions. They are a difficult team to play against. We need to try to keep a clean sheet. If we take a point it's fine but it will be a great feeling to take the three points.”

The ex-University of Pretoria man played his first 90 minutes of the season in the win over Chiefs, having recently made his return against Baroka from a six-month spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

“It's a great feeling to be back,” he adds.

“I struggled a little bit [against Chiefs] because it was my first full 90 minutes. I never did pre-season with the team. I am taking everything step by step but overall I am feeling great to be back.”
