SuperSport United captain Dean Furman confident of a win at home in the CAF Confederation Cup final

SuperSport United captain Dean Furman rued his side’s missed chances in the CAF Confederation Cup final first leg but believes they can get the required result in the return fixture to lift the trophy.

Matsatsantsa got a crucial away goal in the 2-1 defeat to DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Sunday, giving themselves a good chance of clinching title glory when they come back home for the second leg tie, set to be played at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night.

SuperSport dominated most of the first half and should have gone into the break with at least two goals, but they found themselves a goal down at half-time.

Youngster Sipho Mbule, 19, netted the all-important away goal with an exceptional strike from long range, a moment he is not soon likely to forget. They could not hold on for the draw, though, but a 1-0 victory on home soil would be enough to secure them a first-ever continental title.

“We do believe we should have been 1-0 up before they even got a chance [to score], so one of the things we will have to be [in the second leg] is clinical,” Furman said in a press conference after the game.

“Maybe our legs ran out in the end, but a 2-1 result is not a bad result. We got the away goal and we know that we are a difficult team to beat at home and when the conditions are in our favour and not the other team."

Furman is hoping they will get a good crowd at Lucas Moripe Stadium as the team look to make history.

“It’s fantastic to play in front of a crowd like this [in Lubumbashi]. We actually enjoy it, rather than get intimidated by it,” the Bafana Bafana midfielder said.

“We are hoping that we will have a big crowd that’s getting behind us at home."
