The South Africa U-20 team have started preparations for the 2017 COSAFA U-20 Youth Championships, taking place in Kitwe, Zambia from December 6 to 16.
Amajita coach Thabo Senong invited Bafana Bafana boss Stuart Baxter to conduct the first training session on Sunday.
Senong started the camp with 21 players instead of 26 as some of his charges were busy with school exams.
“We had a great response from all 21 players in the first training session and we are very grateful to all the clubs that released their players,” said Senong.
“We are going to have an intense week of training in preparation for the COSAFA U-20 Youth Championships and announce our preliminary squad as soon as possible.
“We decided to invite coach Baxter to allow the players to meet the coach and for him to share some of his experience as they are the future senior players. The players were very excited to have a session under him.”
South Africa, who lost to Zambia in the 2016 final of the youth event, have been paired with Egypt, Mozambique and Mauritius in Group B.
