Rodney Ramagalela plans to fly the flag for Limpopo when Polokwane City host Bloemfontein Celtic in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals on Sunday.
The last time a team from the province reached a final was when Black Leopards lost 2-1 to Orlando Pirates in the 2011 Nedbank Cup decider.
Ramagalela, who was part of that Lidoda Duvha outfit that played under Zimbabwean coach Sunday Chidzambwa, is determined to make history with Rise and Shine.
"I think it's going to be good also to go all the way to the final because, as you alluded, the last time a team from Limpopo played a semi-final or final it was when I was still playing for Black Leopards.
"I think it's time we make another [bit of] history as Polokwane City."
City, who were formed in 2012 with the purchase of PE side Bay United, finished a best-ever sixth in the league last term, while they are now in the semi-finals of a competition for the first time.
Ramagalela is naturally pleased with their progress and with the young talent that is coming through the team.
"This shows growth as a team. We've set the record among ourselves and we are on the right track after we qualified for the top eight last season. Now we are in the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout," said the Absa Premiership's top scorer with six goals.
"I think we have capable players to make it to the final. The conversation we are also having is that we know our job and everyone knows his role. So the only thing we keep on saying to each other is just to push ourselves and make sure we progress to the final."
The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker added: "If you can check in our team we've got many youngsters who have just been promoted from the MultiChoice Diski Challenge this season."
Kick-off is at 15h30 at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
