“Wits might not be doing well in the league, but this is a cup clash,” Zulu told his club's website.

“That’s always different, as that’s a once off. It will be the game of the season so far.”

The teams played to a 1-1 draw in the league earlier in the season, with Zulu reiterating the pedigree of Gavin Hunt's side.

“Opponents always give 100 percent when they play us. It will be tough, as they are last year’s league champions. They have a formidable side. Saturday’s match will be a final before the final.”

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old has credited coach Steve Komphela with helping him settle at Naturena following his off-season switch from Maritzburg United. Zulu has started 10 games at left-back since Tsepo Masilela sustained an ankle injury against SuperSport United on August 23.

“It wasn’t easy at first especially because of my lack of game-time last season. However, the support I got from coach Steve Komphela helped a lot as well as the immense passion I have for the game of football – it kept me going.”

He added: “At Chiefs, you are expected to win trophies, which is not really the case at Maritzburg.”

The versatile Zulu, who has played in midfield and upfront, revealed Komphela was the one who saw his potential at fullback during their days together at Maritzburg.

“It was actually coach Komphela who changed me during the 2014/2015 season to the position of left-back.”
