Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt makes a call on Tanzanian trialist Uhuru Suleiman

Posted: 16 November 2017 Time: 11:56

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt says he will not be signing Tanzanian forward Uhuru Suleiman due to foreign quota issues.

The 28-year-old striker had a trial with the Students following a good season with Mozambican outfit Uniao Desportiva do Songo.

Wits already have five foreigners on their books in James Keene, Hellings Mhango, Gerald Phiri, Amr Gamal and Slavo Damjanovic.

If the Premiership champions wish to bring in another foreigner when the January transfer window opens they need to let one go, as per the change in PSL rules last term.

"Oh ja look, I can't take him," Hunt tells

"I'm not gonna be able to sign him, he is a foreigner and at the moment we've got four [Ed: five] foreigners in the team, so I can't take him."

Hunt says he was impressed with Suleiman's ability.

"He is a good player, no problem, but I can't take him you know, we have enough foreigners."

Hunt is currently preparing his men for Saturday's Telkom Knockout semi-final with Kaizer Chiefs at Bidvest Stadium (15h30).
