Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has made two changes to his starting line-up

Posted: 14 November 2017 Time: 17:05

Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has made two changes for tonight's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Senegal in Dakar.

Bafana were beaten 2-0 by the Lions of Teranga in Polokwane on Friday. Bongani Zungu, who was suspended for Friday's encounter, comes into the starting line-up for Kamohelo Mokotjo and Keagan Dolly makes a return to the starting XI in place of Turkey-based Lebogang Manyama.

Bafana's chances of qualifying for the showpiece were dashed on Friday night, but Baxter wants the team to finish a disappointing campaign on a high. Bafana are bottom of the group going into tonight's game. Kick-off is 21h30 South African time.

Itumeleng Khune is in goal and will captain the side again in the absence of injured skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo, who has a toe problem.

Khune will have the central defensive pair of Morgan Gould and Clayton Daniels in front of him, while Thamsanqa Mkhize and Sifiso Hlanti keep their places at right and left-back respectively.

Upfront Bafana will be relying on Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau, who did not have too many opportunities in front of goal on Friday. Tau will be supported by his club teammates Themba Zwane and Sibusiso Vilakazi.

There's no place in the starting line-up for KV Oostende midfielder Andile Jali. He, and the likes of Siphiwe Tshabalala, Bradley Grobler, Phakamani Mahlambi and Manyama, can come off the bench and make a difference if the team is struggling.

Senegal, meanwhile, will be without star man Sadio Mane, who is in England and will be monitored very closely this week after returning to his club Liverpool with a recurrence of a hamstring strain.

Team

Khune (c), Mkhize, Hlanti, Daniels, Gould, Furman, Zungu, Zwane, Tau, Dolly, Vilakazi

Substitutes: Sandilands, Madisha, Mathoho, Langerman, Mokotjo, Mabunda, Jali, Mahlambi, Manyama, Tshabalala, Ndlovu, Grobler.
