Serero prefers couch to Bafana bench

Holland-based midfielder Thulani Serero says he would rather sit on a couch in Arnhem than on the Bafana Bafana bench.
Serero was commenting on his failure to honour a national team call-up for back-to-back World Cup qualifiers with Senegal, after his demands of a starting berth were rejected by coach Stuart Baxter.
Bafana lost the first match 2-0 in Polokwane on Friday night, dashing hopes of competing at Russia 2018.
The Vitesse playmaker was benched in the previous three matches, twice against Cape Verde and against Burkina Faso.
"The sofa in Arnhem is more comfortable than the South African bench," Serero is quoted as telling the Dutch media. "I have thought about it long and hard.
"If the national team wants me, then I must play. As the situation is now I don't want to go."
Serero said he told Baxter of his decision on November 5, with the Brit saying he learnt of the 27-year-old's position from team manager Barney Kujane.
The former Ajax Amsterdam star faces disciplinary action from SAFA amid talk his international career could be over.
Baxter's men will end their qualifying campaign tonight against Group D winners Senegal in Dakar (21h30 SA time).
