KickOff.com has learnt that Orlando Pirates have resurrected their interest in signing Ugandan midfielder Khalid Aucho.
Aucho was recently spotted in Bucs colours during a training session at the Rand Stadium.
According to a source close to Pirates, the club could recruit the free agent in January. He has also been linked with a move to Egyptian giants Zamalek.
"The deal with Pirates is still highly possible," says the source. "The player is in Johannesburg.
"Pirates are still trying to assess a few options with regards to bringing in new foreign players in January, including a striker."
Buccaneers coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic previously worked with the former Baroka man, who had a brief stint at Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade after leaving Bakgaga last term.
Micho has to keep in mind foreign quota issues. He currently has Ghanaian attacker Benard Morrison, Senegalese midfielder Issa Sarr, Zambian striker Justin Shonga and Nigerian goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel registered with the PSL this season.
Daniels' future is uncertain at Mayfair, as is that of out-of-favour Zimbabwean Marshall Munetsi.
This website revealed the Sea Robbers were eyeing Aucho a couple months back before talks hit a snag.
