Stuart Baxter: No dead rubbers for Bafana

Posted: 13 November 2017 Time: 09:15

Bafana Bafana arrived in Dakar in the early hours of Sunday ahead of their rematch with Senegal on Tuesday.

South Africa's 2018 World Cup hopes ended with a 2-0 loss to the Group D winners at Peter Mokaba Stadium this past Friday.

However, Bafana coach Stuart Baxter insists there is no such thing as a dead rubber in international football.

“When one plays for the country, there is nothing like fulfilling the match. There is nothing like rubber matches. We are going to Tuesday’s game intent on winning it and that is what we will go for,” said Baxter.

The Brit has been boosted by the availability of midfielder Bongani Zungu, who was suspended for the recent defeat to the West Africans.

Bafana will complete their preparations tonight, having jetted out of Polokwane on Saturday night following a two-hour regeneration exercise at the match venue.
