2018 World Cup qualifying play-off wrap 12 November 2017

Switzerland and Croatia became the next nations to secure their spots at the 2018 World Cup.

Switzerland 0-0 Northern Ireland (Swiss won 1-0 on aggregate)

Switzerland secured their ticket to the World Cup in Russia after playing to a 0-0 draw with Northern Ireland in their second leg on Sunday evening.

The Swiss headed into the clash with a slim advantage after securing a 1-0 win in the first leg on Thursday evening.

However, the second leg saw the two nations play out a stalemate which was enough to see Switzerland advance to the showpiece in Russia.

Greece 0-0 Croatia (Croatia won 4-1 on aggregate)

Croatia secured their spot at the tournament next year after a 4-1 aggregate win over Greece.

The visitors took a healty lead into the second leg after their big win on Thursday evening.

Similarly to the other game, the clash ended goalless but Croatia never looked like throwing away a three-goal advantage on the night.
