Ex-Chippa United coach Roger Sikhakhane linked with Mthatha Bucks following Ian Palmer exit

KickOff.com understands that Roger Sikhakhane is in talks with Mthatha Bucks regarding the vacant head coaching role.

Bucks on Wednesday announced the departure of grieving mentor Ian Palmer, whose father passed away on Monday.

Sikhakhane resigned from new franchise Richards Bay FC in October, having guided the now-defunct Thanda Royal Zulu to National First Divisions honours last term.

This website has been informed that the former Chippa United tactician is a contender to replace Palmer at the NFD outfit.

When called for comment, Bucks COO Lunga Tukute would only go as far as to say they are currently in negotiations with four coaches.

"We are talking to everyone we think can fill the void and currently we got four names we are talking to," Tukute told KickOff.com.

"So we are trying but at this stage I'm not at liberty to say who are we talking to as a club. But definitely we are trying to get a new coach.

"The thing is that, as soon as you reveal the names, other teams are also wanting [the same] coach and you end up getting no one."

There have been eight coaching changes in the second tier this season, with the latest coming on Wednesday when Ivan Minnaert took over from Jean Losciuto at Black Leopards
