RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has ruled out the possibility of Naby Keita joining Liverpool in the January transfer period.
The Reds have already agreed a £55m deal with the Bundesliga club for Keita, who is set to move to Anfield at the end of the current season.
However, it has been suggested Leipzig could be open to allowing the Guinea international to make the switch at the turn of the year, but Rangnick has dismissed those claims.
“Even if we should not reach the knockout stages of the Champions League, it would make no sense to allow Naby to join Liverpool earlier,” he told German publication Leipziger Volkszeitung.
“We want to qualify for Europe again, and we need Naby for that.”
