UEFA begin discussions with FIFA over making Nations League a global competition

Posted: 7 November 2017 Time: 15:17

UEFA confirm they have opened talks with FIFA and other regional confederations over potentially expanding the Nations League into a global competition.

The newly-formed Nations League will start in September 2018 and replaces the normal international friendly calendar for European teams.

And European football’s governing body, along with FIFA, have begun talks about a global version of the competition.

"These discussions involve our national associations, European football stakeholders, all confederations and of course Fifa, with whom we have a very good relationship," UEFA said in a statement.

"We have included them in discussions on this topic since the start."
