AmaZulu coach Cavin Johnson says Usuthu are getting points from games in which they are expected to falter.

The Premiership returnees are in mid-table with 12 points from nine matches, having recorded wins over Free State Stars, Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Johnson's side, who were previously held to a 1-1 draw by surprise log leaders Baroka, will resume their campaign after the FIFA break against Kaizer Chiefs at King Zwelithini Stadium on November 22.

The Durban-based outfit were recently thumped 3-0 by Amakhosi in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals.

“The players have played well against teams, which are higher than us on the league standings,” Johnson told the club's website.

“So, we are getting points where people don’t expect us to get points.”

The 58-year-old added: “We are AmaZulu FC and we have a brand to build, and a stadium to fill up.

“I think we need to take it one step at a time and we will get there.”
