Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane defends Cristiano Ronaldo after La Liga goal drought

Posted: 6 November 2017 Time: 12:24

Zinedine Zidane insists Cristiano Ronaldo gives Real Madrid a lot more than just goals following the striker’s scoring dip this season.

The Portugal international has endured a severe dip in form this term, having bagged just one La Liga goal so far as Los Blancos find themselves eight points off the pace in the title race.

However, Ronaldo provided the assist for Isco's strike during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Las Palmas and Zidane believes there is too much focus on the negative when it comes to the forward and his contributions.

"You [the media] always think of negative things and I think positive," said the Frenchman.

"Cristiano has given the pass for the goal [of Isco] and I can tell you that he is very pleased with it.

"He is happy to give a goal and it was a beautiful goal. We know that he likes to score and he is happiest when scoring.

"But we believe that he will make a difference. He is not doing it now by scoring in the league, but he is in the Champions League and he also does other things.

"He is helpful to the team and in the end, he will make a difference."
