Manzini: Malesela didn't want me

Rhulani Manzini says he left Chippa United after feeling unappreciated by the club's former coach Dan Malesela.

The striker surprisingly joined AmaZulu in August as part of a swap deal that saw defender Ayabulela Konqobe go the other way.

Malesela was sacked by Chippa the following month, with his former assistant Teboho Moloi returning to United to take over the reins having left not long before after clashing with 'Dance'.

Manzini, who has five goals from eight games this season, says Golden Arrows also showed interest in his services earlier in the campaign.

"I spoke to the chairman of Chippa [Siviwe Mpengesi] because AmaZulu came in first and then Chippa refused me to come here," Manzini tells KickOff.com.

"Arrows then came and he also refused, and then told me there were teams that wanted me. Out of respect to those clubs I'm not going to reveal their names. The club said they don't have money.

"The coach [Malesela]... I don't know what influenced him not to be play me at the beginning of this season in the first two games. It is when I wanted to leave but the chairman didn't want me to leave.

"The coach showed me that he doesn't want me anymore. The only person who was supporting me was Teboho Moloi at that time. He was always encouraging me and Dan didn't want me at Chippa.

"I told the chairman that I just got married and it was not a good environment for me. He then told me that this is also not a good environment because the coach is on and off and he said it's better I leave.

"Then AmaZulu came back again and the deal was sealed."

'The Beast' adds: "Coaches have their own preferred players and they also have their own agents. Unfortunately that is how it is in our football and it is what is killing our football. But anyway I'm grateful to Chippa United for giving me the opportunity they granted me. I had a good time there, the fans were good to me, the chairman was good."
