Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael denies Uganda contact

Posted: 2 November 2017 Time: 09:47

Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael has denied being contacted by the Ugandan FA for the vacant head coaching position, insisting he wants to prove his worth in the PSL.

The Cranes have yet to find a full-time replacement for current Orlando Pirates mentor Milutin Sredojevic, but confirmed their new head coach will be unveiled later this month.

A number of African media houses earlier this week reported that Eymael was contacted and was in the running to take over at The Cranes, yet the Ea Lla Koto coach says otherwise.

“Again?” Eymael asked when quizzed about the link to the Uganda position. “Last time was before I came to Free State Stars, and yes, that was true. But no, I have not been informed recently about that. I haven’t had any contact with them now.

“But I receive offers every day. But to come back here, I had to do different things following the mistake I did against Polokwane City, and I want to prove that I can take a team and do good things.”

Eymael claims to have received a number of offers in recent times, but insists he is fully focused on his current project in the PSL.

“Offers are always there,” he said. “Two days ago I refused an offer from Algeria, one week ago it was Sfax from Tunisia. Casablanca also contacted me before they played Sundowns. I also had an offer from Namibia … but I would really like to do a good job at Free State Stars. And like I’ve always said, I really appreciate your country, it’s a very balanced league in Africa with good infrastructure.”
