Moloi: Julies is like Bennett Masinga

Chippa United coach Teboho Moloi says Samuel Julies reminds him of the late Mamelodi Sundowns legend Bennett Masinga, because of how they are sometimes undermined for their height.
The diminutive Julies bagged a brace in a 2-0 victory over Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday night in Johannesburg, after coming on as a second-half substitute.
The School of Excellence product also scored the winner against his former side Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout last 16 at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Sunday. Having struggled with injury recently, Julies is making up for lost time and Moloi could not be happier with the progress the player is making.
“I have said it before that Julies is like the late Bennet Masinga. It’s up to you how you want to use him. Coaches come in our country and they get short strikers and they tell you that the boy can’t hold it [the ball] up. At Chippa we play the South African style of football and it suits him and he will continue where he left off,” Moloi said after the victory over the reigning league champions.
“You must not forget that he comes from a good development school. He went to the School of Excellence and from there he went to Sundowns. It tells you that wherever he went he learnt. The boy is clinical, what else do you want from him? He’s got pace and you might undermine him for his height but he has got strength. So with me he will always play.”
Moloi is looking forward to the upcoming FIFA break, but before that they have a Telkom Knockout quarterfinal clash against Kaizer Chiefs at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
“I am actually happy that we are having the FIFA break. It will give me time to work with them on different aspects of attack. Defensively we are done and you can see the fitness levels are at a different level. Everything that has to do with defence is over and done with. So what I have to do now is to add on what we saw tonight.”
Having beaten Cape Town City, Sundowns and Wits in their last three matches, Chippa will go into the match against Amakhosi believing they can overcome another big gun.
