Clinton Larsen reaction to Golden Arrows' heavy loss to SuperSport United

Posted: 1 November 2017 Time: 12:15

Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen felt the scoreline was harsh on his team in the 3-0 defeat to SuperSport United.

Arrows were humbled by an Aubrey Modiba brace and goal from Reneilwe Letsholonyane at Mbombela Stadium last night.

It was the first league defeat of the season for Abafana Bes'thende, who are second in the standings with 15 points from 10 games - a point behind Baroka.

Larsen told his club's website: "SuperSport took the lead quite fortuitously when [Musa] Bilankulu slipped because of the soft underfoot conditions. We had the first chance of the game though when [Knox] Mutizwa chipped [Ronwen] Williams only for the ball to narrowly go over the crossbar.

"Conceding the second goal just before the break made our task all the more difficult. Chasing the game made us susceptible to conceding again and our opponent got their third, killing all hopes of any comeback.

"Truth be told it was not a bad performance by the team but also not good enough to get any result from a very experienced SuperSport team."

The Durban-based outfit, who lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates in their Telkom Knockout opener last weekend, will resume their Premiership campaign against Bucs at Orlando Stadium on November 21.
