Baroka FC defender Mzwanele Mahashe says they will have to keep a close eye on AmaZulu’s veteran strikers Siyabonga Nomvethe and Mabhuti Khenyeza when they meet in the Absa Premiership tonight.
Log leaders Baroka visit Usuthu at King Zwelithini Stadium, looking to keep their unbeaten record away from home intact. To do so, they need to keep the experienced marksmen at bay.
“It’s important to be wary of them, especially with their experience. They have been around, so we will keep an eye on them. They have been playing football for a long time and we know what they can do,” Mahashe tells KickOff.com.
“We will probably have a plan to stop them, but we must remember AmaZulu is not about two individuals. They also have young players who are energetic and skillful. We will do our best to stop them.
“We’ve seen a couple of AmaZulu’s games. They are a hard-working team and they have a good blend of youth and experience. So we are expecting a tough game. But we know what we want, so we will continue to keep working hard.”
Mahashe spoke about Baroka's good start to the campaign, saying the quality and competition in the squad is playing a key role.
"There’s no secret. We work hard and train hard. The players who were brought in by management are different. The squad is also not as big as last season. There’s competition and quality. Competition is healthy. We are lucky and blessed to have a squad of players who want to work for each other."
