Polokwane City coach Bernard Molekwa believes Rodney Ramagalela’s chance to play for Bafana Bafana will come and has urged the player to keep working hard.
Ramagalela is currently the Absa Premiership top scorer with six goals, but has not been able to break into the Bafana squad despite his impressive form of late.
"He must keep on working hard. His time will come. Obviously the players that have been chosen they believe they can do the job for the nation. He just has to keep on working hard and his turn will come," Molekwa said after his side beat Ajax Cape Town 4-3 on penalties in the Telkom Knockout last 16 on Saturday.
Molekwa, meanwhile, is hoping his players will be fresh for the Absa Premiership match against Kaizer Chiefs after they played 120 minutes of football on Saturday.
City needed a penalty shootout to overcome the Urban Warriors at Peter Mokaba Stadium, after the game finished goalless at the end of extra time.
City face an Amakhosi side that cruised to a 3-0 victory over AmaZulu in the cup. They meet at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday (19h30).
"There won’t be any training because we only have two days in between. We went to extra time, whereby the players are tired.
"When you play against clubs like Kaizer Chiefs you don’t need to motivate the players. They are motivated themselves and they know what’s at stake. We need to get points, so that we can move up the log."
He was delighted with the victory over the Urban Warriors, especially because they kept a clean sheet.
"It’s the first time we go to the second round of this cup competition and I am happy with the effort the boys gave. If you check, it needed commitment and courage because we went to extra time. It was good that we managed to go to the last eight.
"I am happy that we managed to keep a clean sheet. If you keep a clean sheet, you have a better chance of winning the match and it’s a confidence booster. We can build from this performance going into the Kaizer Chiefs game."
