German Bundesliga report Bayern Munich v RB Leipzig 28 October 2017

Posted: 28 October 2017 Time: 19:33

Bayern Munich jumped to the top of the Bundesliga standings after recording a 2-0 win over RB Leipzig on Saturday evening.

The visitors were reduced 10 men after just 13 minutes when Willi Orban was shown a straight red card for bringing down Arjen Robben who was through on goal.

Bayern eventually broke the deadlock in the 18th minute as Robben turned proved to pick out James Rodriguez, who fired a first-time into the far corner.

Jupp Heynckes' charges continued to dominate, and they eventually doubled their lead in the 38th minute as Robert Lewandowski latched onto a pass from Javi Martinez before calmly slotting home.

The hosts suffered a blow just before the break when Lewandowski was forced off with a injury.

Bayern picked up from where they left off in the first half, as the likes of Robben and Arturo Vidal went close inside the opening 15 minutes.

Robben went close once again after 71 minutes but the Dutchman's effort sailed just wide of the upright after some good work by Rodriguez.

Leipzig, meanwhile, really struggled to get the ball of the Bundesliga champions, which led to a lack of chances.

Nevertheless, Bayern managed to see out the final stages of the half with relative ease to claim three points, which sees move to the top of the table.
