Larsen: Arrows are no pushovers

Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen says his team has proven that they are not "pushovers" following their 1-0 loss to Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout.

Thabo Qalinge's 33rd minute strike helped Pirates claim a 1-0 win over Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

"I think it was a game of two halves, we started brightly the first 10 to 15 minutes. After they got the goal they started to play with their tails up," Larsen told SuperSport TV.

"We came out a better team in second half. We knew we were going to concede possession playing with two strikers upfront. But the moment we made a change in the second half we brought in [Nduduzo] Sibiya in the middle, we started to be more creative.

"I'm very happy with the effort the boys gave me today. We may have not got the results but once again the boys have proven that we are no pushovers, we can compete with the best teams in the league."

Larsen also revealed why he decided to withdraw Jabulani Shongwe.

"We had to make a choice between [Knox] Mutizwa and [Lerato] Lamola. We left Mutizwa on because we know how good he is in the air. We knew late in the game we were going to go a little bit direct," he added.
