Kaizer Chiefs progressed to the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout after defeating AmaZulu 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Bernard Parker had a great opportunity to open the scoring in the 10th minute after beating the offside trap to go one-on-one with the goalkeeper Boafela Pule, but he found the angle too tight from the edge of the box.
Mabhuti Khenyeza should have bagged the the opening goal in the 21st minute after beating two players inside the box but his low shot went agonisingly wide with goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune beaten.
George Maluleka put Amakhosi ahead half-an-hour into the encounter with a deflected shot from the edge of the box, 1-0.
Steve Komphela's charges could have scored at least another goal heading into the halftime break, but Hendrick Ekstein failed to convert his chance.
Usuthu had their chances to get on the score-sheet but it ended 1-0 to Amakhosi at the interval.
Ekstein doubled the hosts' lead 10 minutes into the second half with a toe-poke from outside the box that took a deflection off a defender and sailed into the back of the net, 2-0.
Siphiwe Tshabalala put the game beyond Usuthu three minutes later after being gifted space and a loose ball inside the box. 'Shabba' smashed the loose ball into the back of the net from close range, 3-0.
Cavin Johnson brought on Siyabonga Nomvethe in place of Khenyeza after 70 minutes, while Komphela withdrew Parker for Dumisani Zuma.
After 85 minutes, Amakhosi were cruising which prompted Komphela to withdraw Tshabalala for Ryan Moon.
Usuthu tried to register a goal in the closing stages but they were unable to bypass the Chiefs defence as the encounter finished 3-0.
