Confident Ajax ready for City

Ajax Cape Town captain Mosa Lebusa says his side are in a good space heading into their last-16 Telkom Knockout clash against Polokwane City.

It’s been an unimpressive start for the Urban Warriors in the league, having won just two of their eight games. Yet their 2-1 win in Bloemfontein Celtic last time out has lifted the camp’s spirit immensely, according to their skipper.

“It’s amazing what a win does to the team,” Lebusa said. “After Saturday’s result, everyone is happy that we’re back to winning ways. The morale is quite high, and we’re looking forward to the game. It’s a cup game, a different ball game, but everyone is up for the challenge.”

Despite having beaten cup opponents Rise and Shine already this season, Lebusa is not expecting an easy game, especially on their own turf.

“They are a difficult side to play,” he said. “I’ve only played them once away and we drew. Knowing them, they are a hard-running team, they fight for 90 minutes and never give you space, so it will be a hard and difficult game, but I think all the guys are prepared.”

Kick-off at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday is set for 15h30.
