Chippa United midfielder Mark Mayambela has dedicated the rest of his career to his friend, the late Cecil Lolo.
Ajax Cape Town defender Lolo, 27, passed away in a car crash on October 25, 2015 - shortly after helping his club win the MTN8.
Two years on and Lolo remains in Mayambela's thoughts.
"I dedicated the rest of my football career to him," the former Ajax playmaker tells KickOff.com.
"I imagine where he would have been right now and what he would have achieved after his career was starting to take flight after the MTN8 final.
"It's never easy to get over such tragedies. But my worry has always been his mom and kids because he was a bread winner at home."
Mayambela will get his next chance to play in Lolo's honour when Chippa host outgoing African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the last-16 of the Telkom Knockout at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Sunday (15h30).
"It’s a big game. It's against the best team in Africa. It's not gonna be easy. They have a great coach and great players but we are in for it. The preparations for the game are going well. The mood is high, the confidence is high and we are looking forward to the game."
