FC Barcelona recorded a 3-0 win over Real Murcia in the first leg of their Copa del Rey Last 32 tie on Wednesday evening.
The hosts fancied their chances early on against their illustrious opponents, who were without the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta.
Ernesto Valverde's charges were found wanting after half-an-hour, with Murcia playing high up the pitch.
However, Paco Alcacer grabbed the lead for the visitors on the stroke of halftime with a header from close range following a cross by Gerard Deulofeu, 0-1.
Deulofeu doubled the lead for Valverde's troops seven minutes after the break with a solo effort, beating two markers inside the box before slotting through the goalkeeper's legs, 0-2.
Jose Arnaiz got the third goal for Barca four minutes before the hour with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box that found the top corner to mark his first team debut with a goal.
Barca started to be more comfortable on the ball after 75 minutes, as the likes of Ivan Rakitic and Sergi Roberto were introduced for the final 15 minutes.
The third goal for the visitors sapped the morale out of Murcia, who were enterprising before that and looked out of sorts in the closing minutes.
