It was a difficult weekend for South Africa’s Bafana Bafana stars, yet Lebogang Moloto, Bradley Ralani and Sibusiso Magawaza kept the flag flying high with their efforts abroad.
Dolly was not in the squad for a second week in succession as Montpellier beat St Etienne 1-0 to lift themselves to eighth in Ligue 1. It’s the fourth successive game the winger has missed.

Jali’s Oostende suffered a last-minute 1-0 loss to St Truiden, conceding in the 89th minute to register their eighth loss in 11 games this season as they sit rock-bottom of the Belgian top-flight standings. Jali featured for the entire match, and was yellow-carded in added time. Kurt Abrahams was not included in the match day squad for St Truiden.

Former Bidvest Wits youth player Magwaza netted his first goal in his third appearance for Utenis Utena as they secured a 3-0 win over Stumbras in the Lithuanian top-flight. Brentford played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Sunderland on Saturday, the point leaving them 18th in the Championship standings. Mokotjo was however an unused substitute on the bench as he recovers from an injury picked up while on international duty.
In a huge match for 27-year-old Moloto, Swope Park Rangers faced off against Phoenix Rising in the USL Cup play-offs quarter-final. A goalless 90 minutes took the game to extra-time, where Ivorian legend Didier Drogba gave Phoenix the lead on 99 minutes, before Rangers levelled matters 10 minutes later to take the game to penalties. Two misses from Phoenix gave Moloto the opportunity to secure the win for Rangers, which he did as he slotted home the fourth penalty to secure the 4-2 shootout victory. Rangers now face Republic FC in the semi-finals on Saturday.
Mothiba played the entire game for Valenciennes, who went down 3-2 to third-placed Paris to leave them 10th in Ligue II after 12 games.
