Real Madrid reclaimed third spot in La Liga with a comfortable 3-0 win over Eibar at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos' fourth successive league win sees them leapfrog Atletico Madrid into third spot, but they remain five points behind league leaders FC Barcelona.

The defending champions threatened early on in the encounter with Isco forcing Marko Dmitrovic into a smart save after just two minutes.

Real eventually broke the deadlock on 18 minutes when Eibar defender Paulo Oliveira headed the ball into his own net, following a cross from Marcos Asensio.

Kiko Casilla had to be at his best six minutes later, as the Real shot-stopper reacted well to keep out Joan Jordan's free-kick.

The hosts doubled their lead in the 28th minute as Isco turned provider to pick out Asensio, who fired home from close range.

That proved to be the final piece of action in the half, as Zinedine Zidane's charges went into the break with a comfortable lead.

Los Blancos started the second half on a slower note, which prompted Zidane to introduce Karim Benzema for Asensio in the 64th minute.

Cristiano Ronaldo endured a quiet start to the encounter, but he nearly got on the score-sheet in the 69th minute as his effort was saved by Dmitrovic.

Los Blancos eventually rounded off the scoring in the 82nd minute as Marcelo found the back of the net with an impressive strike after being set up by Karim Benzema.

The hosts managed to see out the closing stages with relative ease to keep their title chase alive.
