Baroka FC suffered their first defeat of the season after losing 1-0 to Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits on Sunday afternoon.
Vincent Pule scored the decisive goal to seal the Clever Boys' second win of the campaign.
Gavin Hunt's charges started the brighter of the two teams, putting Bakgaga under pressure early on.
Amr Gamal had a chance to open the scoring in the 22nd minute after being set up by Daine Klate inside the box with a defence-splitting pass, but the Egyptian striker fluffed his chance.
Kgoloko Thobejane's charges were playing on the counter and they paid the price for it, as Pule scored for Hunt's troops two minutes before halftime following pressure from the visitors.
Thobejane was looking to make a difference upfront when he introduced striker Robin Ngalande in place of midfielder Mduduzi Mdatsane on 60 minutes.
Bakgaga were dominating after 75 minutes, looking for that elusive equaliser with Sipho Moeti instrumental in the middle of the park.
However, the defending champions managed to see off any late surge from Baroka to claim three points on the day.
