Spanish La Liga match report FC Barcelona v Malaga 21 October 2017

Posted: 21 October 2017 Time: 23:17

FC Barcelona maintained their unbeaten start to the La Liga season with a 2-0 win over Malaga at the Camp Nou.

Javier Mascherano and Ivan Rakitic were drafted into the Barca line up, while Gerard Pique and Paulinho dropped to the bench.

The hosts took the lead after just two minutes when Gerard Deulofeu turned home Lucas Digne's cross.

Malaga had to wait until the 30th minute for their first chance as Juan Carlos headed wide of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen's upright from close range.

That proved to be the final chance of the half as Barca went into the break leading by one goal.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half, the home side doubled their lead as Andres Iniesta found the back of the net with a deflected effort after some good work by Lionel Messi.

Malaga went close once again after 75 minutes as Luiz Hernandez's header sailed inches wide of the upright.

Barcelona thought they had a third goal in 90th minute, but Messi's header was ruled out by the referee.

Nevertheless, Ernesto Valverde's charges held on for the 2-0 win and maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
