Sifiso Hlanti: Pointing fingers won't help Bidvest Wits

Bidvest Wits defender Sifiso Hlanti believes the team must avoid the blame game as they seek to rise out of the relegation zone and turn their season around.
The defending Absa Premiership champions have had a turbulent start to their campaign, having picked up a paltry five points from seven games thus far, as they occupy 15th spot on the log.
Coach Gavin Hunt and his troops have been a shadow of themselves, with their array of new, high-profile signings yet to show their worth and help the club's cause of defending their maiden championship.
Hlanti, however, feels pointing fingers at individuals will not help and stresses the need to work collectively to bounce back and start collecting points.
“We know we didn’t start well, and to point fingers won’t help us because it’s all about us as a team, as a whole,” Hlanti tells KickOff.com.
“Whatever happens, happens for a reason. If there are those kinds of mistakes then we need to rectify them because at the end of the day we are working for our families.
“Losing a contract is not something good, but since we didn’t start well I think after this [international] break we had recently we might turn the corner.”
The Bafana Bafana left-back also says they are not paying much mind to the criticism and doubt making the rounds but are instead focusing their energy and attention on achieving their targets.
“We are not concerned about that [what people are saying], because the coach, technical team and management are the ones who stand up to protect and support us,” he adds.
“People talking is something good for the country as a whole, because at the end of the day it’s all about stories. We know very well what we want, so we’ll turn the corner."
