Bloemfontein Celtic coach Veselin Jelušic says 'it will be suicidal to lose focus' against a wounded Cape Town City.
The teams will contest a league tie tonight at Athlone Stadium (19h30).
Phunya Sele Sele, in seventh place on the table with nine points from six games, recently lost to Kaizer Chiefs in the annual Macufe Cup, having edged Premiership champions Bidvest Wits 1-0 just before the FIFA break.
The Citizens, meanwhile, are hurting following their MTN8 final loss on penalties to SuperSport United on Saturday. Benni McCarthy's charges rose to third in the standings and took their tally to 12 points following a 2-0 derby victory over Ajax Cape Town in their previous assignment.
Jelušic says Siwelele have used the international recess productively but expects a stern test against their hosts.
He told the club's website: “The break gave us the opportunity to strategically plan for our opponents by identifying and addressing our own shortcomings. We also worked around tactics to amass the target points in Cape Town.
“Our system of play allows players to be flexible and adequately guided towards offensive play mixed with a high-intensity type of approach. We are cautiously defending and trying hard to convert a host of chances created.”
The Serbian added: “I have been enjoying to work with this bunch of players since day one. Their commitment humbles me daily and that is the spirit that keeps us going as a team.
“City is playing good football and their style of play is very good and losing focus against them will be suicidal. However, we have made our own assessment and aptly prepared for this encounter.”
