Arsenal hand defender Calum Chambers two-year extension, keeping him in London until 2021

Arsenal have tied down defender Calum Chambers to a new long-term deal, keeping him in north London until 2021.

The 22-year-old joined the Gunners from Southampton in 2014 but spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough as Arsene Wenger looked to ensure the centre-back more game time.

He has since returned to the Emirates Stadium and is working on becoming a more regular feature at the club, and his signing of a new deal will come as a big boost to his aspirations.

"I know I'm still a young player and I want to have my best years playing for this football club," said Chambers. "I want to win as many trophies with Arsenal as possible.

"I'm going to repay the fans for the faith they have shown in me."

A statement on the club's official website read: "Everyone at Arsenal is looking forward to Calum's continued contribution to the club."
