Radamel Falcao and Colombia have sparked a huge row after seemingly playing a part in match-fixing during their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Peru.
The two nations played out a 1-1 draw in their final qualifier this week, which earned the Colombians their place at the Russia showpiece while Peru are through to the playoffs, ahead of Chile on goal difference.
However, Peru midfielder Renato Tapia has revealed Falcao urged them to take their foot off the gas in the final few minutes of the encounter after informing the players that the 1-1 result would suit both team’s World Cup aspirations.
"We were focussed on the game and then in the final five minutes the Colombians approached us," he told Panamericana Television.
"They knew the situations from the other grounds. The game was managed as it had to be managed.
"I spoke with Falcao and he said to me that we were both in, so there was happiness about that."
FIFA are yet to make any comment regarding the accusations of match-fixing.
