New Highlands Park coach Owen da Gama is currently assessing Solomon Mathe with a view to signing the former Platinum Stars midfielder for the remainder of the season.
Highlands boss Brad Kastel confirmed Mathe is training with the National First Division outfit following the 37-year-old's release from Dikwena in July.
"He is training there, but look I don't know. Look he is an older player, he is 37 hey... I don't know," Kastel tells KickOff.com.
"He has been training with us, look he is a great player. I think he's got maybe a season [left] in him, so let's see... but he is training with us.
"I really don't know [when Mathe arrived]. We played a friendly yesterday and I went to watch and I did see him playing, but until then I didn't know about it either. You know how it is, it's up to coach Owen. He's obviously got a relationship with Owen from the past. They obviously know each other and he seems to think he can do a job for us. It's up to him, he must make a decision in the next few days.
"But look, Owen settled in well, he is a top professional. It's a pleasure to deal with him, he is an absolute top professional. Clever hey, astute. It's been only a week but I'm impressed with him."
